Have you got an Alko receiver fitted to your caravan? I think you can have one fitted but it involves removing the hub and drum and the total cost would be quite high.

We have an Alko lock on our caravan and it is very secure but it can be a pain to use as sometimes it can take ages to get the van level only to find that the wheel has to be turned to fit the lock. Obviously turning the wheel means moving the van backwards or forwards which means the van is no longer level. I think I would prefer an ordinary wheelclamp unless the insurance company insists on the lozenge type.

the bailey senator was No 28
Check if you have the Alko receiver fitted first.

I have had a good look around the Bailey site and can't find one for a ranger 460?

richardandjo2010, is your Ranger the GT model or a standard Ranger? The standard model generally had steel wheels, while the GT model carried the alloy's. Is it possible a previous owner has retro-fitted alloys to a basic Ranger, hence the lack of info on Al-ko site?

Ill say this every time I read about someone looking at buying an ALKO Wheel Lock.

ALKO Wheel Locks are good and obviously give you some discount on insurance, but they have two major flaws:

1: They are an absolute nightmare to fit, once you get the knack they can be still tricky to fit, especially if they are on a twin axle.

2: They are extremely expensive for what you get, and you can get virtually the same security system for much cheaper. Ok you don't get the nice discount, but if that equates to just a few pounds a year, is it really worth spending roughly £300 to save £15 a year compared to spending £110 and not getting that saving?

https://www.caravanaccessoryshop.co.uk/product/fullstop-nemesis-ultra-wheel-lock/3184

The good thing with these nemesis wheel locks is that they don't need a receiver added to a caravan. I currently use it and it works a treat, literally seconds to fit and remove. Compare this to the ALKO one which I saw someone using on a trip recently, it took him ten minutes to fit and a big argument with his wife.

To be fair though I would say that the gentleman trying to use it didn't have a motor mover, which would probably make it much easier.

Put the handbrake on to the first click then turn the wheel by hand. You'll be amazed how easy it is.

At least you got one in the end Richard, well done.
And i am not judging you with the below statement, its just what i would do.
To be quite honest i would go for the nemesis after just looking at the link, if my van had not come fited with the Alko system.
Nice kit, and approved.

The Nemesis locks are really good, I've been away a few times and people have asked where I got it from.

Is it as good and secure as the ALKO? possibly not, I mean the lock does allow a little bit of movement, but if someone wants your van, nothing will deter them, all these locks and clamps we have are purely there to deter the "part time" crook, the real crooks will be through nearly everything we put on our vans in minutes if not seconds.

Al-ko came with ours, its easy enough to fit with a motor mover. Can be a pain when you have to have a levelling ramp the same side!
The point where the van is level does'nt always coincide with the correct spot to get the lock on!

I always used the wheel brace on one of the wheel nuts to move van back and forth while pushing on lock and pledge to locate.
