Loads of threads about this company on this forum over the years. They are a high volume discount retailer with workshop space & service staff that is incommensurate with their large sales turnover of caravans to customers attracted by the low prices. That is not really something that can be easily rectified within their business model.

Not much help to you but it does suggest it could be a better idea in the long run to pay the extra & buy from a trusted local dealer with good reputation in order to achieve better after sales service.

If you deal with this company you need to be a savvy customer, as they know and employ all the tricks in the book to maximise their profit by ensuring you pay if they can achieve that. Bought once there and never again.

Sorry not much help for you, but badger them!!!

Guys, buy your new/new to you van, and take it away for a few days and if anything, I mean ANYTHING, does not work take it back for a full refund within 30 days. It is your right now.

Tell them before you take it away from the yard that is what you will do, it tends to focus their mind. But make sure you tell them in no uncertain terms.

Honestly guys, I would be kicking their doors in if this happened to me, and I would not stop until I was 100% satisfied. Look up Consumer Law, and go armed, Trading Standards are there to help.

My wife and I were looking at some lovely, camper vans at a well know and popular local dealer, the guy was brilliant and not pushy at all. But I did have a smile when he said "Don't worry sir, if anything goes wrong just bring it back and we will sort if for you" I looked him straight in the eye with a stare that would kill at 100 yards and said "I know you will". We did not buy the van, as lovely as it was, not ready for the dark side yet, but the look on his face was priceless 😀👍 Never, ever appear to be a push over with these people, on the contrary, appear to be a real ba###rd. They will not mess you around.

Let's all get tough with these people. You are the consumer, so YOU say what happens, not them. 😡😡

With Mike on this one.....

Just to add, how about in some way, setting the van up on their forecourt and trying out as much as you can there!?

Take a barrel of water, a bottle of gas etc...??

You are being unrealistic Mike. You are right about the 30 day refund but if you think you are going to get a refund for a loose door you are dreaming. Trading standards? Easy to post on a forum but the object of the excercise is a caravan to use. Not to achieve satisfaction by getting a refund after months of no caravan & then being back to square 1 with no caravan.

Kicking their doors in? That's not sitting out on a site in the caravan you have always dreamed about is it? Your local dealer has heard it all before. If his workshop facilities are big enough to cater for his customer base then he will have satisfied customers. I'm sure he puts on his 'hurt face' for the benefit of folks like you all the time. Good salesmen run rings around potential customers who think they are in control. Anybody who thinks they are getting a bargain is dreaming. The bottom line price has already been decided by the sales manager.

The way to get poor service is to buy a heavily discounted caravan miles from where you live from a pile'em high & sell'em cheap dealer with a workshop the size of a double garage.

No amount of kicking doors in will cause that dealer to do what he physically cannot which is keep ahead of warranty work for the volume of caravans he sells to customers who dismiss their local dealers as ripoff merchants & travel 200miles for ther 'bargain'.

The good advice is not about litigation after the event but how to avoid the event which is to buy from a dealer near you with workshop facilities commensurate with his volume of sales so he can handle any warranty issues promptly & as buyer lives nearby they can easily take caravan in for the work.

hi all, Got problems sorted but guess how?...Glossop caravans told us to contact Elddis and we got a great guy..could not do more for us, hats off to him.Pity there are not more people around like him, even spotted what we thought was a odd fault ..Basically the IDC was not working and Glossops guy said just give it some ' welly' the guy at elldis said it was a faulty component and just replaced it what a star .Must admit Elddis boss at Karen at was so unhelpful but eventually offered a free service at a reputable service centre. Once again thanks to that special guy who knows how to listen to customers.pity Elddis bosses sre not more like one of their employees
