According to Towcar.info, you should be able to pull about a ton fully loaded, so long as the nose weight is no more than 50kg. (Assuming you have the 1.6 manual petrol version of the Peugeot) The nose weight will be the limit, rather than the MPTLM figure, as it's quite low for that car.
To get photo's to show, you'll need to load them into online storage, like Google Pictures, and cut-and-paste the reference into the pop-up box when you hit the picture key the one after the B and I buttons on the edit box)

Probably best to visit your local towbar fitting shop, there you will more than likely get the correct advice for your situation.

Having just found the picture on your profile gallery, I would agree with Blueexpo that you'd be best visiting a towbar supplier. It looks to me as if a section of the towing bracket has been removed (not just a removeable towball), as the section you still have should have an assembly bolted between the two plates.
Find a supplier for advice, but if the existing brackets manufacturer can't be identified for the proper part, then you may need a complete new towing bracket.

Peter, also refer to your car's handbook. Kerbweight is not the only factor here. Peugot will also state what the maximum braked trailer weight is. This may be more than or less than the kerbweight.
Towbars are type-approved now, and the label for this must be on the bar or the removable swan neck.Possible MOT failure without

Looking at picture in op gallery it is just a standard fixed swan neck towbar with the swan neck ball section missing. It bolts on with with 2 horizontal bolts.
The towbar will be made by one of the large manufacturers such as Bosal or Westfalia. Maker's label should be on towbar somewhere. Or it could be a Peugeot dealer fitted towbar so supplied through Peugeot parts dept.
I don't know if just the missing part is available without buying whole new towbar £100 odd. Try your Peugeot dealer &/or towbar supplier.

I agree with the others that said take it to a towbar centre to get it checked out as a peugeot dealer will ask an arm and a leg for checking and fitting a part.

Plenty of cheap import towbars from unknown brands being shipped in from Poland, Italy and Spain, so not guaranteed to be a well known branded part these days.
