Double dinette for sure.
We have a Swift Challenger 490LSE.
Its about 13 years old this year, had it for 7.
Its 1500kg MTPLM, your Audi should pull it ok.
I reckon you should easily pick one up for £5k, but you might have to drive a good way.

Our boys are now 10 & 11.
The beauty is that the end can be closed off, creating a separate bedroom for them. We often leave the bunks up all the time, there's still room for them to get changed in there. Asboluteley love our van, nothing we've looked at the show comes close, there is a Swift that sort of fits the bill but you can swing a cat in the end because of the fixed bunks.

Bailey did a good selection of what I'd call family vans, about the same time, they should be in budget by now.

Agree with the dinette. With 5 bodies in the space, a fixed bed will make a van seem cramped. Vans with a large double bed from the lounge area and a side dinette that converts to 2 bunks curtained off are very airy and spacious. You usually get a bigger kitchen and bathroom too.

Its just the tedium of making/unmaking the main bed every day.

We are a family of 4. Our daughter is soon 13 and our son 10. 3.5yrs ago we bought an Ace Jubilee Courier for £7.5k. It has fixed bunks across the back, each with their own light and curtain so they each have their own space when they go to bed. Our daughter has plenty of space but once our son is too big for the top bunk he can use the side dinette. We find it a very useful layout, no need for a awning on weekend trips. When they were younger we used to put out toys on the side table so when they wake up they can sit and play with the curtain drawn round whilst we have a lie in.
