My brother has just given me his caravan a (Swift Conqueror 520/5) which needs a little work doing to it. I was wondering if someone could advise me upon getting hold of a user manual for it? Also I've noticed that there is a small opening under the toilet cassette cover on the outside (similar to the one that the pump plugs into about half way along the outside of the caravan). My brother says that the flush mechanism to the toilet inside doesn't work and I'm wondering whether something has to be plugged into this connection outside in order for it to work. Thank you...Lee.
Thanks Greg. I just tried that but unfortunately they only go back to 2000 and the year of mine is 1990.I really appreciate the suggestion mind. Thank you...Lee.
Hi Lee,
I will keep looking for you.
One thing you can do is make a note of the fridge, gas heater, water heater and switch panel, oven and such like.
Most will have a number on them. Then go to these companies websites.
These companies go back quite far with their own user manuals.
By doing this you build up your own manual.
Good luck.
Regards,
Greg
Hi the plug on the outside if the same as our 550/5 is indeed just another socket for the water pump and is used to fill the toilets flush tank with water. Hope this helps.
Ps the pump is just to lift water Into the flush tank it does not have anything to do with the actual flush mechanism. It is just a manual pump. If inop possible diaphragm fault
Thank you. I told my brother it had to be that. He bought it second hand and only used the caravan for one weekend as it was too small for him and his partner and 4 kids ha. He said he couldn't get the flush to work and didn't even notice the small connection socket outside next to the cassette door. He said that it never came with any lead to plug into it. Is it possibly a case of plugging the other pump lead into it (temporary), allowing it to fill whatever needs to be filled within the toilet tank then re attaching the pump back to its original position? If that is the case then what am I filling up and with what and where from, as this is just a socket with no pump. I am assuming that there must be some tank within either the toilet cassette or the toilet itself. Sorry there seems a lot of questions and probably simple answers but as I've never owned a caravan before I'm just a little worried about this issue. Cheers....Lee.
Also there is a control panel above the kitchen area and there seems to be 4 empty holes where I assume there were once knobs attached. Everything I need (other than these missing 4 knobs) is there and working fine. I was just wondering what they might have been originally used for? Cheers...Lee.
Hi Lee not sure about the kitchen holes but if you could post a photo might be able to help.
Regarding the pump sockets we only have one pump and move it to where it's needed.
When you open the door at the toilet cassette you will find a fill point in there this should be filled with a mixture of water and flush fluid. If this has not been done your problem could be as simple as that.
The other connection is used to fill the on board water tank. Some caravans can run the system straight from the external pump if you want but on ours and I suspect yours may well be the same set up the external pump only fills the on board tank then you switch the pump switch on the control panel from external to internal and this pumps the water to where you need it in the caravan.
Hope this helps
Got that. Thanks for your information. I doubt if there is anything in the cassette tank then as my brother isn't the brightest of people. So if I fill that up then it could possibly work? I'm still unsure what the external socket does though and how do you flush the toilet inside? I'm fetching the caravan over to my house on the weekend to do some work on it in order to take it to the caravan park in 2 weeks time so I need to sort things out very soon. I've been unable to try any of the electrical side of things yet but my brother assures me that everything works perfectly except the toilet. I need to add extra sockets as there are only 2 single ones in the entire caravan but I'm very good with electrics so that's not a problem. The more information I can get regarding the toilet issue would be much appreciated and its begining to bother me a bit now. Thanks again...Lee.
