I've had a leak in my caravan from the status 530 TV aerial. I've narrowed it down to water inside the aerial body (I.e. the bit that looks like a space ship).

I've taken the aerial off the caravan, can hear the water sloshing around inside the head, and also confirmed that this leaks down the inside of the mast

The one thing I can't figure out is how to open up the head. If I can get it open then I can dry it out and re-apply sealant around the edge.

I've managed to drain most of it out simply by holding it on its edge - the water then drips out, which shows that the seal inside is insufficient.

There are no screws that I can see holding the head together. Does anyone know or have experience of how to open it up? Is it just a case of prising it apart? I don't want to force it and break it!

Thanks for any advice.

It is possible to split around the middle, clean off sealant and reseal. Hope the link works

Hi tedthebear

Thanks for the response. I also found that thread, but unfortunately the photos in it are slightly different to my aerial head. The photos show screw slots holding the upper and lower parts of the head together - however my aerial doesn't have any screws but just blanking plates in their place...

Hope that makes sense - can't seem to add any photos to this post.
