Well today I've seen LOADS of caravans, presumably setting off for a weekend away. Must have seen 6-7 in a 4 mile journey.

So if it was you I hope you have a lovely weekend away. As a tenter, it's still a tad chilly for me, so see you next month!

Rach,
As an ex avid tenter who now due to health issues uses a motorhome to pretend to camp I find that a really nice gesture on your part to say that..
We have made many bacon sandwiches for frozen tenters as I can sympathise with them.
Park next to us anytime bacon sandwiches will be there.
Regards,
Greg

We were away last weekend at the caravan and there were two tenters there with a couple of family sized tents

I have huge respect for them as on the Sunday morning we even had a bit of snow

The only time we camp in Britain is at Silverstone. France for us too, but it is easy for us living 30 minutes from Plymouth Ferry Port. Less stressful, less traffic, fewer people.........Heaven.

So we are not sure Rach, but it will be France pretty soon I guess.

Greg,
As an avid tent camper who is fortunate enough to still enjoy good health, I find that a really nice gesture on your part to say that.
Unfortunately, as the likelihood of us ever pitching next door to your motorhome is slim at best, I wondered if I could send you an SAE Jiffy bag, and you could perhaps forward the bacon butty next time you are doing a batch!

Rach,
We were tenting last weekend. An hour south of Snowdon's peak, which had snow on it. We had a ten minute flurry on our tent, and rain the rest of the weekend... and we had a ball!
Get EHU, get a fan heater, get some decent fleeces, and get out there. Chances are, you'll be the only tent on site, and you'd bloody love it!!

Caravan to me is just a box to sleep in in a place I want to be which is France in the summer months so off end of April. UK caravanning is of no interest to me. We all do it differently.

If folk didn't like sleeping in tents in cold weather they wouldn't do it so I'm sure they need no sympathy from tin boxers. Any suggestion that tenters only tent because they can't afford a caravan tends to go down badly with tenters.

I can't afford a caravan, (or at least one I'd be prepared to sleep in! LOL!) but I'm not ashamed to admit it. Other than that, I agree with every word, especially the bit about us wanting to be there.
I get more embarrassed about being called "brave" (for tenting in winter) than I ever would for not being able to afford a caravan. We do indeed go because we love it. We don't expect sympathy... but a bacon butty wouldn't go amiss!

Ha! Ha! Mucker. My 'new' CoC bought Sept last yr. Is a well loved & cared for by previous owner & drizabone '95 Abbey. £1050 ebay bargain. I certainly can't afford your tent.

Yes, it depends how one does one's camping/caravanning. Just a means to an end. Accommodation wherever you want to be. Or an end in itself? I bought it now I have to use it. Are we having fun yet?

Certainly dropped a clanger last yr. I ebayed my previous CoC March last yr. Got double I expected for it(£500) & then couldn't get a replacement at right price. I didn't realise how mad buyers go for caravans this time of yr so I tented it in France last yr with a £120 Kampa tunnel.

It was ok'ish apart from the flippin' junk I was surrounded with. The Berlingo was loaded to the roof. When we got to the site my whole pitch was permanently strewn with gear & when we left it took a whole morning to get cleared up.

When we got back in Sept I flogged the tent on ebay for £70 which I thought was reasonable & got my reasonably priced CoC no probs. Once August is over nobody is going madbid for ebay caravans anymore. So I'm fixed for a few yrs now.

Hi,
Mucker, bacon butty on standby and not out of sympathy either.
The only time I felt sympathy was a young couple in the Brecon Beacons in January, their cooker had packed in ,they had no real gear and were frozen stiff by the morning. It had snowed heavily in the night as well.
Really used to love waking up in a tent, you can't beat it.
Always loved the smell of grass and canvas.
The main thing, we all love to be away whatever method of camping.
Meet really nice people and visit different areas.
Regards,
Greg

Northam Farm. :-) Had a few stays there. It's busy but we always have a good time. Nice pint of Doom Bar in the Seagull.

Us, not off till 2nd Easter week. Away to Whitemead, in the Forest of Dean. Absolutely love the place. So much to do. Kids have a fab time.
