We bought ours in Hannover!
Discovered a problem whilst in France, and warranty covered the repair, which was done in France at a local dealer.
All very efficient.
So, as long as the dealer is kosher, then there should be no problem with distance.
I have had all sorts of problems with warranty including new. I decided to buy lastnew one with a local dealer. He was the worst, even tried to charge £500 for serious warranty work found on first outing. What I am really getting at is that it is far better if you know that the dealer has some integrity.
Previous posts suggest they do exist and deserve to be supported. So better to find good dealer irrespective of distance - well within reason!

We live South Drbyshire and buy from Chichester caravans at Bromsgrove ( about an hour away). We have needed warranty work on two occasions due to breakdowns of pump and tap ... on both occasions the dealer posted out replacements to the French campsites we were on and fitting was quite simple and a DIY job. Service is done at a local approved workshop which we have used for several years and which is happy to do warranty work subject to getting approval.
As per the post above we will never deal with Chichester again as they let us down very badly. We had an issue with damp around the cassette door under warranty. Chichester had the caravan for a week and told us that they had done the repair. We collected and at the other dealer they found damp in the same area! BTW this was the third attempt at repairing the damp.

Never ever had a problem with them. Just shows how experiences can differ.
We have just picked up our first caravan this last weekend. We travelled from the Stirling area in Scotland all the way down to Venture caravans in Daventry.
Managed to fit a short break in the Peak District for three nights on the way home.
Time to sell our beloved TT now.
I'm looking for my first van and willing to travel a few hours to pick it up but only because I need to find a really lightweight one and am limited to model choice somewhat.
