Hi any of u daredevils actually kneel or stand on your caravan roof to clean it properly? or is it a bad idea because of the roof strength ?
After all many dealers tell us that caravans are immensely strong today.

Kneeled on Bailey Senator and unicorn roof without a problem.
But never go to close to a roof light, as a weak area.

Dealers may tell you that the caravan roof is immensely strong but they don't say exactly what weight it will withstand. A 20 stone bloke would most probably put a dent in his wallet as well as the roof for structural repairs.
I sit on the edge and reach the centre with an extendable brush but I wouldn't take a chance standing in the middle being just over 75 kgs. (12 stones) in weight.

I reckon a decent step ladder and a long brush would be cheaper than a roof repair!!

Just given mine its annual wash down, grudgingly, OH insists on it. Dont always do the roof but normally if I do, its a step ladder and a long brush. Never fancied standing on the roof.

Just cleaned our camping car and chickened out on standing on the roof although there is piece of chequer plate installed covering part of the area. Short ladder, sprayed detergent/cleaning agent using garden spray, long brush with water hose attached seemed to do it. It passed inspection so it must be OK.

Bailey showed a car parked on the Alutec vans,so you be able to kneel on it.Despite that I use a step ladder and telescopic cleaning brush.

I find that if you use ladders and lean them against the side of the caravan with a short length of the foam pipe insulation that plumbers use over the touching uprights of the ladder provides protection against damage, then with a extending wash brush it is easy to clean

step ladder ( or if I have a trailer home then park it next van) and a long soft brush, dip in hot soapy water and then hose off. If you dont leave it to long its easy to keep on top off......so to speak.

Finally done it - I've been avoiding cleaning the caravan roof. Combination of reaching through the big roof vent and a pipe insulation protected ladder, soft broom & hose.

did ours yesterday ,ladder ,long brush ,hosepipe

BUT i have just found some amazing stuff to clean not just the roof but also the whole van ,totally stunned with the result as our old bus is gleaming ,the amazing caravan cleaning agent is a bottle of pink cleaning fluid from the car section in the pound shop . looks like a bottle of muc-off but only costs a quid .
try it and see i honestly couldn't believe the results ,love to hear any one elses comments on this .
