If you were collecting your caravan from me you would need none of those because I would have ensured that the caravan was ready to tow but if I was collecting the caravan I would not tow it until I knew wheelnuts were tight, tyre pressures correct & hitch tube was greased.
I would also check condition of tyres & also date. You might have to take a chance on the tyres though. I've done that a few times.
Weight, to get the noseweight within safe levels. I take a gas bottle, plus three or 4 empty plastic 5-litre water containers so I can add extra weight if needed.
I must admit I use my experience to judge the achieved noseweight, but if lacking that skill/experience then get the dealer to measure it for you.
And don't rush the pre-payment indepth inspection, plus take off "rose tinted specs" and look for faults absolutely everywhere[ my experience is they have not bothered to do that on the PDI, taking it as near free cash in the pocket for them]
Check that both your caravan and car have compatible towing plugs i.e. 7 or 13 pin. If it's an older caravan it'll probably have 2 7 pin plugs and if your car has a 13 pin plug you'll need an adaptor.
Just watch the nose weight as Adria can be nose heavy. As a rough guide you should be able to lift the nose by hand when the steadies are up.
One other point which I fell foul of in our first van. Don't go to the very rear of the van until you've put the steadies down. We did and it tipped, luckily just missed the house.
A wheel clamp and hitch lock especially if youre taking it direct to the storage depot.
Hope it all goes well for you I am sure you will love it and have many happy adventures with it
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect
We put ours up on Gumtree and it was sold and paid for in full within a few hours to a family a few miles away. They had been looking for a 542DK for months.
We go to pick up our newer Adora 612DT in 2 weeks. YOOOOOOOO
------------- if your not living life on the edge your taking up tooo much room
Got it Sunday but only really had time to collect it and get it up to storage as we had lots of other stuff on.
But yesterday, me and DH spent the morning in it pottering and working out what we need to buy (couldn't possibly use spare bedding we already have you understand - she deserves some shiny new colour coordinated stuff!) and working out how to manage the dog, etc, etc. All very exciting.
I'm hoping we can get away both May bank holidays but hands are a bit tied at the moment DH finished a contract on Friday and is looking for s new one (bring interviewed right now!) so we need to work around all of that.
Weren't supposed to purchase one until autumn as our summer holiday is booked and sorted with family. We were only "looking"!!! But Adrias are so rare and get snapped up and this one was everything we wanted and more so we went for it.
I have reminders in my phone for booking campsites for next year as they get released!! So many places we want to go and we had a chat at the side of a football pitch with a family that have taken theirs as far as Croatia!!!
Remember to put your van details in the outfit section of your profile.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
