Finally joined the world of caravan fun.
I have a beginner's question.
There is a yellow switch for the pump under the right hand side front seat. I am trying to work out how tbis works as found the manual far too confusing.
It would appear having the switch pointing upwards will cause the water to drain out from the bottom of the caravan. Pushing the switch on its side facing the front of the caravan and turning on the pump appears to draw water from the aquaroll and out the taps.
What I cannot work out is what setting I need to fill the tank so I can heat water. I don't dare turn on the water heater switch until i know there is water in the tank. The water comes more or less instantly out the taps so I am assuming this is straight out of the aquaroll. Any detailed advice on this whole process much appreciated.
If you are talking about a flat paddle type of switch that is there just to drain the water from the heater tank. It needs to be in the closed position flat against the pipe. To get water into the system you need to have your submersible pump from the water carrier attached to the outside of the van. You then need to switch the pump on at the control panel so that it will fill the heater. The heater has an automatic over ride if the heater gets too hot as it would if there was no water. Once its full and you have bled any air locks by opening the taps at the sinks and shower you are then ready to put the water heater on.

As above really, but open the furthest tap from the water heater on the hot setting until the water flows constantly to remove the air from the system, then close it and do the rest of the hot taps until water flows constantly. Pump switched on obviously.
Then switch on the electric water heater as the heater tank will now be full of water and all the air will have been purged out of the pipework.
Yellow switch is only to drain tank which we do to travel. Pointing up, open...flat down closed. To fill water tank, fill aqua roll and turn on main power switch for pump. Make sure yellow switch is in the closed position then turn on tap (in hot position) in bathroom first. Once water is flowing to all taps in hot position without spluttering tank is full, free of air, and is now ok to turn on water heater main power next to pump switch. Sorry to repeat what others have said but I remember this confusing me a bit first time out.

Just to add regarding expelling air from the water system. As already mentioned in a previous post to turn on the furthest tap is quite right but remember that there are two points to consider which is the furthest away plus the highest point too which is the shower. Once the water is flowing through the shower it makes the rest a little bit easier I find.
Thank you for all your replies.
What confused me was that when I connected the submerged pump into the aquaroll container that sits outside the caravan and connects via the connector, the water appeared to immediately come out the taps. I was therefore thinking one "lay flat" setting was for pumping straight from the Aquaroll to the taps - bypassing the tank and the other "lay flat" setting was to fill the tank. I can see this is not the case now.
So can I ask - if the switch was in the "lay flat" position and no taps are turned on. If I switch the pump on and water is coming out the bottom of the caravan - does that mean the tank is full and water is overflowing?
Does the cold water get pumped straight from the Aquaroll?
I am thinking now as I am typing that perhaps I had the tap open on cold only.
To fill the tank - do I need to have the hot taps open? Otherwise I am not sure how the pump decides whether to fill the tank or pump out cold water. I am assuming the cold water never goes into the tank - or once it is heated - you could never get cold water.
I will look back on this question in 6 months time and wonder how I could ask such a basic question.
Opening a tap in 'hot' position draws cold water from aqua roll into water heater storage tank. Opening a tap in 'cold' position draws cold water directly from aqua roll. Yellow switch is just a drain valve for emptying hot water tank when leaving site. I think on my van which is practically the same as yours, we had water pouring out underneath until we realised which way round the closed position 'was' on yellow drain valve.

"Opening a tap in 'hot' position draws cold water from aqua roll into water heater storage tank. Opening a tap in 'cold' position draws cold water directly from aqua roll."
That is the info I needed to hear and explains the process and where I was going wrong.
Yellow lever is in closed position flat against pupe. When I turn on pump I can hear it making a noise and water is coming out from underside of caravan.
If I turn on cold tap water comes out cold tap.
So surely when no tap is turned on then no water shod come out bottom and pump should not be making a noise?
The pump will keep working until the tank is full. If water keeps coming out from underneath the tank will never be full and the pump will keep running.
I might be wrong but I never bother to drain the hot tank in the summer, I sometimes drain it in the winter if we will not be going away for a couple of weeks.
In the winter if we are going away soon I leave it full and turn the heat setting as low as possible and leave it hooked up at home, the water is warm rather than hot and the heat stops any of the pipes near it freezing.
The disadvantage of leaving it full is the extra weight but you simply need to allow for it.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
Thanks for the replies. I seem to have fixed it by running the hot tap for a bit. It spluttered at first so guess trapped air may have caused the issue?
