There are a couple of issues with our pump at the moment.
Firstly it is really difficult to get on and off - hubby can connect it but I struggle. I don't know if this causes the main issue, it sometimes won't work. So hubby connects it, the water is running and it works, then later on when we go to use it again, nothing. Hubby has to go outside and wiggle it around. So it would appear to be a connection issue but how do we improve the connection?
Inside the plug are two round brass connectors which you will see that there are two slots in each of them. Get a thin bladed screwdriver and just prize them open slightly to make a better contact as wiggling the pump about has closed them down slightly thus not making a positive connection. Also spray a little WD40 into both connections to remove any surface corrosion which should resolve the problem.
Thank you the oil worked a treat. Was obviously just not going in far enough previously. And I don't use the water to drink anyway so wasn't too concerned by that.

Mmmm love the taste of WD40 in my tea
The fresh water is drawn up through the pipe which absolutely has no contact with the brass connections whatsoever so can't see any reason why tea or any other drink for that matter should taste of any electrical lubrication.
