Hello,
Just joined and wondered if anyone knows anything about Finding a light weight Awning to fit a Freedom Jetstream caravan. Our Freedom is a fairly old timer of thirty years vintage but in surprisingly good condition. It came with a Freedom Awning but this weighs a proverbial 'ton' and our Arthritic fingers just cannot cope. As the roof on the Freedom seems to be the wrong shape for modern porch awnings I wondered if a campervan drive away Awning might do. However looking at them online it seems the door on the caravan might catch the connection sleeve! Has anyone else gone down this route and if so which Awning did they go for? Just to add to the problem funds are low!
Cheers,
Towtal

Hi and welcome to the forum Towtal

I also have an old freedom Jetstream of 1989 vintage.
I looked into and bought a porch awning which turned out a total waste of my heard earned pension so ended up selling it on and lashed out on a proper full awning, I know they are heavy but are very well made and are specially adapted to fit and I very much doubt if you will ever find anything that will as like you say the flat section of the awning rail is very short, so unless you can have one adapted it looks like you will have too carry on and do your best,, just a thought have you tried putting it up with the side panels removed and the awning rail lubricated with silicone spray?

Hello there Moppetsdad,
Thanks very much for that bit of wisdom. Yes I think you are possibly right, but it was worth a try. It's just that now we are retired and both with health issues humping that weight about just does not appeal.
A brand new Freedom Awning has lightweight Fibreglass poles and is probably much better but not at £750! Ah well we might just stick with our canopy and buy a separate utility tent to bung all the excess we always seem to take!
Thanks again though,

Towtal

I have a Freedom Sunseeker which came with an awning. Does anyone know what size groundsheet I need to buy please? It's a Harrison awning that's made for the van
