Last week I saw someone using one of these inflatable "LocknLevel" bags which seem to deal with the problem of getting a caravan both level and ensuring the AlKo wheel lock is lined up.

I asked the chap about it but he confessed it was their first time using it so couldn't tell me anything about longevity and so on.

It's an expensive blow-up bag but having a van nicked is going to cost far, far more so I'm seriously considering buying one.

Had a search of old forums but can't find any mention. Anyone use one? Got any opinons please

buy a couple of decking boards from a diy store. Cut one about a foot longer than the footprint of both wheels, another 6 inches longer and the 3rd 6 inches longer again. then just stack them to make your ramp depending on how much lift you need. they are lightweight, easy to use and allow enough movement to get your alko lock on. cost you about a tenner.

We bought one from the Manchester Show (and got a discount!). Have only used it once so far but it was really simple to use and it seems very sturdy (if that's the right word to use). The couple selling them at the show (who incidentally are caravanners who designed the Lock n Level to make it easier to level their van and fit an Alko wheel lock) told us that they will not fail under normal use but that they could be pierced by a screw, nail, piece of glass or similar, so they recommend putting a cheap rubber mat underneath, smooth side up, as a precaution, which we did. If you have any questions I would suggest phoning or emailing them, as they were very approachable and down to earth.

I'm in a similar situation to the caravanner mentioned in the original post i.e. just recently purchased a twin axle combo version and only used it on one outing so far plus fitting the alko wheels locks when storing the van. So far so good, seems as easy to use as shown in the manufacturer's video, also appears made of sturdy and robust materials and certainly feels to be a lot safer to use for lifting the caravan compared to the trolley jack I used previously to fit the alko wheel locks. Don't think I would bother with one for a single axle van but certainly impressed with it so far for a twin axle.

Forgot to say, if you do phone up it might be worth mentioning that they were recommended by someone on here and asking whether they would do you a discount/free postage or something - they seemed like very reasonable people who might consider something like that!

There are other benefits to using LnL too, even with the twin axle version:

There is no longer a need to carry a caravan jack nor do you require the 4 brackets and bolts that form the jacking points.

No more ramps or heavy planks of wood either, so overall there is a significant weight saving

Bought mine last year because my van would sometimes move to one side when going up the ramp. Also, when the van "settles" it is easy to re level the van by putting a bit more air in.
During the past couple of years, each year I have bought some thing to make life a bit easier, this was one if those purchases.
