So the latest update went Broadlane caravans, in Warwickshire, found just the right van, added a few extra bits as you do, and the bloke gave us " very best price" . Does he not know I am from Belper and have never paid full price for anything in my life.

So Mrs BB ran off into the trees as I started to get a deal, to cut a long story short, I walked, no deal, the difference I would pay £1500.
So there you go, no sale all over £1500.
Good job we have a good tent.

Andy Vale from Belper.

If it is of any consolation we had a similar experience with Broad Lane and also no deal. However they have a very good after sales reputation.

Also ask yourself would you be happy having to tow you caravan back to the supplying dealership everytime you needed a service or warantee work doing if you bought it a fair few miles from home?

We made that mistake with our Elddis, we bought from Raymond James caravans in Atherstone, about 50 miles from home, but that equates to a 100mile round trip and a few hours wait for the service, or a 200mile trip in total to drop off and collect later in the week on completion.

Ok, not so bad for us as we are retired and have a bit more spare time to do so, but for anyone who works traditional Monday to Friday 5 day weeks this means taking time off work to do so, as most dealership workshops are not open Saturdays or Sundays.

100 miles? If only!

We bought ours in Hannover (Germany) ... warranty issue was sorted by a Sterckeman agent in France, where we now have it serviced ... some 50 miles from where we store it ... and always our first 'port of call' at the start of the hol.

That formula works, so far! Fingers crossed.

Hi Mate, coming over to the dark side then. I remember when we were camping on diving expeditions back in the 70's.
We moved over to a 2 berth Swift Challenger a couple of years ago. It's fairly old (2002) but we (me and the missus) just wanted to see if we liked caravaning or not after many years camping. Well we have never looked back, used it at least once per month since purchase and now looking to upgrade. Were looking at new version of same van but were also impressed by the Swift Elegance but that's a bit heavy for my current car. Good thing about first van being second hand is that over the last two years we have a pretty good idea on whats important and what to look for in a new van.

Andy Mc, bloody hell, got to get a caravan now mate, off to the NEC in October to see what they have to say. Good news a farmer mate told me he has a barn that I can store it in, so nice and dry, and secure.

Off to Rod Earps 70 birthday party on Saturday so staying in Porthleven for a week, lots of walking but I think it's going to be wet.

See you soon Andy.
