Hi I am thinking about getting a front towing cover for my Bailey Unicorn . I have seen one on Bailey web site which looks ok and at a decent price . I have one or two issues though . My car is absolutely loaded up when we are away , a wheel chair takes up most of the luggage space , so were would I put a towing cover ?I have read somewhere that it is not wise to leave them on when caravan is not being used ie.stored at home etc.When ever I clean my van , within a few days , the windows have a film of dust on them , so if I them fit my cover to go away , are the windows not going to get scratched ?It is not really practical to clean the van before every trip . And what about fitting the cover when it is chucking it down with rain or van is wet through following rain ? Any thoughts please.

Save your money they are not needed. Can scratch as they move about if your van isn't perfectly clean under.

Don't have one on cars and vans are not much different.

Has the Unicorn got aluminium front panel. I thought these covers came out for Pegasus which did have and they got dented by stones.

Even since the front of our caravan got damaged by flying stones we have had a front towing cover. You need to make sure the front is clean before you fit the cover. It can be fitted in when the front is wet no problem.
Not a good idea to leave it on when in storage as dirt can get in between and scratch the front as the cover may be able to move around.
When towing the force of the air or wind against it, stops it moving around and at the end of your journey, no dead insects to clean off the front of the caravan.

hi I use one when towing to save windows getting damaged when traveling, this has happened to two of my friends who ended up with cracked front windows. got mine of amazon they are very light weight and easy to put on I do mine myself no problem. I don't leave it on when in storage they are really only for when travelling they also don't take up much room fold flat and in a carry bag.

Have a specialised front cover which I put in place when travelling never had any problems put on in 10 mins and stops all the nasty bugs leaving a mess on the front.!! It has a scratch resistant foam backing to the inside so no problems with scratching.!! Would recommend to fit one while travalling.!!

Not sure why you are so negative about a towing cover. If something gets in between which is highly unlikely while travelling, then it may scratch the caravan and this can probably be polished out. However with no protection a stone thrown up will damage the caravan or even break a window. Which do you prefer? I know which I would prefer.

I have never had any problem with my Protec one just don't put it on if the van is wet. I had the bonnet of my car resprayed earlier in the year and its got stone chips on it already just goes to show the kind of damage that you can get

I never said I was negative about them . You are probably right about nothing getting in when travelling, but what about when you take it off and something gets trapped on the back and you put it back on without noticing, I mean it could be just the slightest of things that can cause FOD.

We have had a Protec and now a Specialised cover and both have surfaces where any foreign item should fall off. However the idea is not to drag the towing cover in the dirt before fitting it.
Again I would rather have a scratch that could be polished out than chips on the front panel or a broken window.
