I have an Abbey Senator Indiana with an on board water tank. How do I know if the tank is completely empty. I have opened the valve which I think only empties the water heater and water in the pipes am I wrong and does it empty the inboard tank as well.
I have an on board cold tank but you actually fill it yourself, it doesn't fill up from the water barrel. There is a lever near the hot tank where you can choose to draw water from either water barrel or on board tank.

We have two drains in out Swift, one is a blue tap under the van but easy to reach from the side and there is also a rubber bung in the bottom of the tank that I can remove after opening the top of the tank. I only use the tap to drain the tank as I recon the tiny amount of water left would cause no problems if it did freeze.
My hot and cold tanks are full now and will stay full until the end of November (I hope) depending on the weather forecast.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
If your onboard tank is underslung, then the drain may be something like John suggests-reach under to the drain tap
If the tank is onboard under a bunk and near the water heater, then the drain may be nearby. This would be in addition to that you found for the boiler, which is only for hot water drain off.
