I think it is about time that me and my gang (wife & 4 kids) upgrade from a tent to a caravan. Is it possible to get an old and reasonably cheap 5/6 berth caravan in good condition or do we need to bite the bullet and purchase a newish model? Would we cope with a 5 berth caravan if we make use of an awning or am I clutching at straws in the hope that a 5 berth would be big enough?
We go to the south of France every year so the majority of our time is either spent by the pool or exploring. To throw another spanner in the works, the caravan's MTPLM needs to be 1240kg or less............
Have a look at Adria 502DK. We have one we bought for just under £4K 2008 year.
1200 mtplm and a true 5 birth. Double bunks at rear, dinette into a single and front lounge into a double. We have slept 5 no problem. Adria also have a reputation for remaining water tight.

I will have a look! Always good to get a recommendation.
No problem. There are probably a few others too but not many decent sized vans at this weight. this is the only one I know of. We like ours, a bit quirky as no oven but then we never really used ours in the previous van anyway. Tend to Hob or BBQ
I don't know about the mptlm but we have just swapped a Lunar Zenith 2007 which has 2 fixed bunks and 2 pull down bunks. It was also in excellent condition and the dealer still had it for sale the other week - for more than we originally bought it 2 years ago, so we must have cleaned it well ;)
You can get 3x fixed bunks which might work better for you too?
In the summer we set up awning with bedroom extension and the kids love sleeping out there, leaving us to the bed in the van. Actually, when we have swapped over I found the awning room very comfy.
