Hi
We sold our 2005 swift challenger a month ago, the buyers have phoned today to say the gas is not getting through to the van, my husband checked the obvious with them, gas on etc but we are at a loss as to what it might be, we feel grim for them it was all in working order when they took the van and we never had a problem while we owned the van, does any one have any idea where we can point them and what to check or what it might be ? thanks very mcuh

Have they inadvertently turned off a tap under the seats?
Are they holding in the knob for a few seconds?

Do they know anything about caravans? If gas bottle is full & all isolation valves are on then suspect failed regulator. If they know nothing then suggest they get qualified help.

Thanks for your help, all valid things I can ask them to try, I think I'm going to ask the chap who services our vans to speak to them tomorrow, but I guess I'll have to offer to pay for his time, it's so hard not being there to see what's going on and yes they are new to caravaning, this their first van.

It was a private sale of a caravan that worked at the time. I suggest you do not pay for any repairs or you will never get rid of the buyers. As a private seller your responsibility ended with sale of the caravan. Be helpful but I suggest you do not offer to pay for repairs as it is an admission of liability.

I would second what Opensauce says.
It will turn out to be something they are doing wrong.
Have they no one around them who has a van, maybe they could ask for advice from them.

I thought I would ask them if they knew anyone with a van, it has to be somethings simple, paying for the service guys time is my thought as he is such a nice bloke I don't want to keep ringing him, we've just had a problem with our brand new van and he gave us lots of advice even though he won't be servicing it this year, I don't want to take advantage of him.

If the cylinder was renewed, it could be an air lock requiring flushing through. There was also a problem with condensate in the tube from regulator to cylinder unless it slopes down to the cylinder.

You should help with advice, but any paying is buyer's responsibility. (As above)
