Well, no longer in the pending division! I've been promoted to the fully fledged owners league!

Picked the Swift up today, drove it home with no drama or event. I'll be honest, I was pretty nervous but as I'm sure you more experienced people already know...I need not have worried.

So, my new P&J is currently sat on the drive awaiting our first planned trip in a couple of week time. Meanwhile, a pal has kindly offered to teach me the basics of reversing etc.

Welcome to the owners club Tidburyboy! I'm sure you will do just fine and will love it😀 Reversing practice will be useful - sounds like a handy pal to have.

We are off on our 3rd trip tomorrow. Feeling a bit nervous as this is the first trip on an unkown route. Generally feeing much more confident about the towing though, reversing still very much work in progress!

The first trip is down to Cornwall. I Google earthed the B road bit, and it should be a cinch. Hopefully not my famous last words

We plan to go quite early so the roads should be fairly quiet. Its pretty much Motorway and A30 all the way.

I've been practicing setting up the van, and we're going to give the awning its first shake down tomorrow. As tent campers,the awning holds no fears,but we shall see if my confidence is misplaced.

We settled on the Kampa Rally Air Pro 260 with the zip on annex.

Thought I'd update following my post above. The site we went too was Higher Trevaskis, near Connor Downs in Cornwall. Easily found and no dramas for a newbie to towing. In fact, the towing part was the easiest bit overall in what was a new experience to us.

The wind was pretty harsh, reported at 50 to 60 mph. The Kampa stood up well and no issues with the 'van!
