My brother and I are hoping to fulltime in a tourer (in the UK). However, it seems that just car insurance is difficult to get if one is doing this.
Any advice? What insurers allow this?
Even if I can find an insurer, it seems that admin charges are also a factor. Changing the postcode for where the car is located, every 28 days, is potentially a £26 fee.
Maybe try Camping and Caravanning or Caravan and Motorhome clubs. If you have no joy there you could also try the insurers listed on the SBMCC site. Altthough they specialise in insurance for self built campervans, they may be able to help or even point you in the right direction.
The only way to full time if you yourself have no permanent address is to use the address of friend or relative as if you are living there. All insurances & banking from that address then you can be on permanent holiday. Yes it's Micky Mouse but that's the only way you can do it.
Do you have a permanent address? If you do then just insure in the normal way. You can go caravanning for as long as you like.
If you have no permanent address then it can only be done as I described there is no other way. You don't tell insurer you are on permanent holiday. As I said you can use your caravan as long as you like. Your car can be insured for whatever you want to insure it for but it must be from a permanent bricks & mortar address.
