Currently on a CL, and yesterday a very nice Buccaneer Cruiser arrived. But it was towed by an equally nice..........VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI!!!
Now I've checked, and the Tiguan has an official towing limit of 2000KGs, so presumably the warranty and insurance will be ok. But the maximum KW of a Tiguan is under 1700KGs, amd the MPTLM of the Cruiser is just shy of 2000KGs.
Not for a driver who knows how to load a caravan properly set correct tyre pressures & cruise along with the trucks at 56mph. Provided one drives according to load as as HGV drivers do then as safe as you like. For a bad driver then any caravan outfit is probably dangerous.

Buccaneer is a heavy van indeed, it's happier on the back of a Disco 4 than it was on a Freelander 2. The Freelander like the Tiguan has a 2 ton tow limit.
It is not illegal to tow a van heavier than the tow vehicle but it could be a case of the "Tail wagging the dog" - However - some insurance companies have strange rules. Best check with them before you tow.
The MTPLM of the Buccaneer Cruise is 1943kg but can be upgraded to 2000kg. If you took the weight of two adults and children, the gear in the car plus fuel and other liquids, the weight will probably exceed 1943kg.
If it is within the legal capabilities of the towing vehicle I do not see a problem however I am guessing that the Tiguan will struggle on hills.

The Skoda Yeti would also be ok then, with a 2 ton towing weight.

Each to there own i guess.
