I've just bought a swift corniche 15/2 1994. I've been trying for 3 days to get the sink taps and shower unit working. It's driving me mad. Can someone please tell me how to get the taps working step by step from the very beginning. Please assume I'm thick as a plank. This is the first time I've owned a caravan so any tech talk like "pressure switch" and "outlet / inlet valve" means absolutely nothing to me.
Many thanks people
First thing to check is your battery. If its not fully charged your pump wont work. If your van is hooked up disconnect the mains electric supply. Leave for three hours, turn the 12v electric lights on in your caravan. If your van has an onboard voltmeter note the reading, a battery is fully charged at a reading of 12.73 volts. If the van doesn't have a voltmeter installed then take the reading from your caravan battery using a voltmeter (you can buy from Maplins car auto shops etc for around a tenner)

Is it the type of pump that is held in by 2 clips? As well as the tap spluttering can you check outside and check if there is water not entering the van ie appearing to leak at the point of entry.
Ok, when you check disconnect the pump from the caravan shake the pump around in the aquaroll might be as simple as an airlock but there are other things to consider I'll check for any posts tomorrow though any
one can reply. I should have said welcome to the forum. Regards
Check there is enough water in the Aquaroll to cover the pump
Check the connection between the supply tube and the pump - tube must be a good fit and no splits - sometimes has a clip, sometimes not.
As mentioned check the connection to the van. Dependent on the make there will/should be one or two o rings - check the present and sound, as they often need replacement. Note teh connector block must be fully pushed home, so lubricate those o rings. This is a common source of air and water leaks.
Bleed the cold side first
Bleeding the hot side takes much longer to expel all the air from the boiler - be patient as it will gurgle ans splutter for a while.
It may be obvious, but make sure the pump is on the BOTTOM of the barrel. Ive seen vans with almost all the tube out, meaning the pump would have been less than halfway down. And, make sure the pump doesnt catch the side and do a U turn in the barrel, leaving it like a snorkel inside. (can happen if your tube has a good bend on it.)
Also, its worth noting that some pumps do not work great on just the 12v system. Mine has to be recalibrated as the battery depletes, which is a pain in the arse the few times we've lost the leccy.
