My apologies if this has been asked before but I'm new!!!
I recently bought a 2009 Bailet Monarch. Had it serviced today and it has bad water ingress in a small patch at front window pillar. I did go over it with a meter when I bought it but obviously not well enough.
We are distraught, my question is how much would this be to repair.
Hi Ray and welcome to the forum.
The good news is that it should be a fairly simple fix. Price would depend on whether or not you were going to do it yourself or get it done professionally, the largest part of the bill would be labour costs. I suspect that the seal around the window rubbers has failed so that's where I would look initially.

I have just been to speak to one of our local dealers. He says it is a common thing with Baileys apparently the window strip splits. I have been up to have a good look today and it appears that someone has had the same thought as you there is excess mastic around the top of the rubber.
An expensive learning curve for me. It's our first van not even been out in it yet. Disappointed in myself that I didn't see it.
Been quoted £1000 ball park figure if it needs a new front frame. Hoping it's just that strut of wood all else seems ok.
It is eight years old. What length of guarantee does it have?
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
The good news is I took it to a local repair shop today. States it's not too bad very localised needs just that area stripping out and drying. 2 new window rubbers and a bit of boarding. So all in all if that solves it I have been lucky. Could do it myself but have no where to keep it dry whilst Windows etc are out.
Steep learning curve.
But even the shop I took it too today said it would be difficult for a novice to spot as it is so localised. Made me feel better anyway!!!
That is good if it can be repaired. Pity about the warranty. (I have a Swift and that has a 10 year water ingress warranty)
I had a wee bit of damp and it was all opened up and kept inside for a few weeks to let it dry before a repair, all free of charge.
I agree you need a big place to get a caravan inside to do such repairs.

Its not just Bailey that suffer its most of them so don't beat yourself up, the good news is once its done it should be better than it was when new so hopefully you wont go through it again. We have a bailey too we were away last week in a very wet wales on the 2nd day I noticed a leak in the front window and rain was puddling in the channel of the window rubber, the next day I checked the outside and noticed the rubber was damaged the site owner gave me a tube of silicone so I done a temporary fix. which seems to have worked the readings were 55% but after the week away they are now down to 23%

Thanks. I have spoken to lots of people now who have caravans unfortunately i think its part and parcel of owning one. Its dissapointing the manufactures cant get it right in this day and age not even with brand new vans of all makes.
