Please don't think this a daft question hubby said it is . Windy here on our site went in my friends awning and although it blowy it's not creaking . Our poles ceak when it's windy and woke me up last night anyone had this problem and how to stop it. We are seasonal and it's a dorema daytona garda awning we were told when we bought it.
It could be the tight canvas pulling over the poles. As opposed to the poles themselves. It could only be the joints even then, so as above, a dab of lube on the male ends would knock them out of the equation.
I had a similar issue and it was a plastic wing nut thingy that locks the poles at the correct length rubbing on the awning roof material. It was simply a case of twisting it away from the material and the creaking stopped. Hope that makes sense and if you are lucky it may be that simple.
