Motor mover simply yes but remember it takes away some of your payload.
ATC is highly recommended, it has saved us from certain disaster. We were traveling down hill at 55mph when a Irish lorry overtook the side wind and draft from the lorry sent us in a large snake. The caravan ATC put the brakes on and pulled us straight. I've towed thousands of miles with all different sorts of trailer but this time could have been very bad. It was a one off situation but that is when accidents happen. ATC is worth the money and no it doesn't apply the brakes if not needed.
