Hello, I've got my eye on a new elddis caravan. Just wondered if anyone had been to the Elddis open day in the past and whether there were any good deals to be had?
Need to decide whether to do a deal with my local dealership or whether to hold off. Part ex-ing will be easier than buying outright and selling my old van though so I'll only hold off if there are good deals to be had?
Apparently savings of up to £1195 can be had and I suspect that this is a manual motor mover. We would prefer the auto engage AWD and pay the difference.

Thanks for your reply. We're still debating whether we need a motor mover - never use the one on our current single axle van but are thinking of an upgrade to a double axle van. Not sure whether a double axle will be as nudgeable for hitching!

On a twin no question about getting a motor mover. You will not regret it.
For the last couple of years the NEC show offer for many manufacturers has been a "free Powrtouch mover" so they aren't going much of a discount! I'd go and have a look but buy from a dealer and haggle hard.
Personally I would never buy another Eldiss/Explorer group van - their after sales service is a joke should you need to call upon it!
Personally I would always go with a dealership, that way any problems you have someone to go back to.
I had a slight problem with my Xplore 304 and took it back to the dealer, they took a look and said they would get in touch with Elddis so it could be done on warranty, was told later that because the part at fault was the water inlet point (it was leaking slightly) that it was whales fault and Elddis wouldn't cover the cost of replacing it.
Obviously I argued this and eventually the dealer replaced it anyway and just bared the cost themselves.

It was the responsibility of the dealer to replace it any way and not Elddis so the dealer was not doing you any favours anyway.
Elddis don't sell anything to the general public, Should you buy at the open day it will from a be a dealer that is working there for the day
(as it is in the shows) just be careful to speak to one that is in your area
If you need to take it back for warranty you don't want to be towing it half way around the country!
Thanks everyone. Still unsure what to buy! My husband thinks the 8ft twin axle I wanted is too wide and my storage yard agrees because they won't store it!
Back to the drawing board. Why is it so hard to find a van that will fit 4 adult size people without bunk beds!

Find another storage yard and get what you want to get.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
At the moment I would not touch another Elddis van. We have had problems with heating and hot water system made by whale. Sent to there factory for repairs and still does not work. Contacted else is to be told we had invalidated our warranty by not having van serviced at the correct interval ie 15days over
due to dealer being solidly booked up. A brand new £22000 van but rubbish back up. A solid van apparently but not a solid company at the first opportunity they renege on there obligations it seems at this moment in time i cannot recommend buying an else is van. It seems caravan warranties are not worth a light and needs an industry investigation

Why worry about the warranty as that is between the dealer and the manufacturer and not between the consumer and the manufacturer. To the consumer a warranty is a meaningless piece of paper and in addition to your rights under Consumer Rights Act 2015. The dealer is till obliged to do any repairs under the CRA 2015 as if the caravan is still under warranty. It is their problem that they cannot claim from the manufacturer.
My own experience of Elddis and their offers was about eighteen months ago, I ordered a brand new van and was told at time of ordering there would be a six week wait.
This turned into a 10 week wait then a 12week wait to me finally cancelling when they went to a 16 week wait.
I don't think this is peculiar to Elddis I believe the British caravan industry is taking the mick out of all its customers I most certainly won't buy another new caravan of any make
Thanks everyone. We decided against the Elddis in the end and have gone for an ex display Bailey Orion as the savings against new were worth the trade off. Hopefully we will have a better experience than some on here have had!
