hi all ive just got my nec overnight pack and it says dont leave hookup cable attatched while away from caravan, is this right as how will i run my fridge etc, thx all
Use the alternative method and run the fridge on gas the same way they do on caravan rallies where no electricity is available. Once you return to your caravan you can plug in the EHU cable and switch the fridge back over to electricity again.
There have been lots of previous threads about gas fridge problems - obviously can't say which of them might be relevant in your case but it might be worth reading through them.
If all else fails just fill any unused space with pre-frozen plastic bottles of water, for instance.
It would be unwise to attempt to light fridge on gas on an old caravan without cleaning burner & also cleaning behind fridge. Easy way is to remove exterior fridge vents & clean burner with meths & a brush also get an airline in there if you can & blow the area out. Then clean out all the debris from behind the fridge. When you get it lit flame should be blue.
well just been out to it as didnt know u had to hold knob in when pressing light button lol,, its flickering in the viewing window but wont light but looking through vents outside [with torch] looks dusty so gonna try that tomoz after work n see if can get it lit,, i have owned van for 18 months and no history so no idea wen was last serviced or used wish me luck

Do thay say why not to leave it connected?
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
If it is a temporary campsite just for the show then probably no marked pitches & central hookup points requiring cables to cross roadways & paths perhaps? Nobody would gve a monkey's in France but this is UK.
