We ran out of gas in our campervan a few weeks ago. No hook up. So from experience I can say leave the fridge door shut and it will stay cold enough while you are out for the day.
well i rang em today to ask and they were surprised it saiys this and said yes fine leave conected but im still gonna sort the fridge for future use incase

I keep my caravan at home where I have a hook up so I switch on the fridge a few days before we go away and I keep a few ice packs in the freezer, these freeze when on hook up and keep the whole fridge cool while it does not have power, while parked on my way to a site etc. The freezer packs seem to keep it a lot cooler than without them.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

well just been out to it as didnt know u had to hold knob in when pressing light button lol,, its flickering in the viewing window but wont light but looking through vents outside [with torch] looks dusty so gonna try that tomoz after work n see if can get it lit,, i have owned van for 18 months and no history so no idea wen was last serviced or used wish me luck
If you don't know when it was last serviced, you might like to call in a mobile service engineer just to check all is ok with gas and electric. You can't be too careful with these things.
regarding service, i been away twice in her and oven, grill, hob and leccys work fine its just the fire thats blue with hint of orange and fridge im unsure of,,, i think a call out guy b too expensive and this time of year b a waste as il b servcing in april,, if im unsure of it or think its unsafe i dont use it until serviced as a general rule

Just because they work doesn't necessarily mean they're safe! Don't take chances with carbon monoxide poisoning - if you have the slightest concern about gas appliances leave them turned off until they've been checked by a competent gas fitter.
true,, i have a carbon detector in there above but we use a toaster and micro wen we are away as i am curios of them,, wen i bought van i also bought load of safety stuff i though should b a requirement
