Cannot believe our four year old Clubman SE needs a partial new floor. Apparently delamination, going to cost us about £550 to rectify!😲

Why are you paying as it should be covered under Sale of Goods Act? Take note of price paid and durability. Briefly SOGA states the following;

What is the life expectancy that a "reasonable person would regard as satisfactory"?

You would probably need some supporting evidence.

How has the van been stored in the last 4 years?
Have you had any mishaps that could threaten the integrity of the lamination?

Is there no 10 year water ingress warranty?

Where is the delamination happening?

Any reasonable person would expect the floor of a caravan to last at least 10 years without any issues considering that the unit probably cost in excess of £10k,. I would think that if the floor delaminated it was defective from day one and could be classed as an inherent fault.

Thanks for your comments. Sadly due to circumstances our caravan was not serviced in March, so any warranty becomes null and void so we have been told. The delamination is situated a metre square in front of the kitchen sink area which is opposite the door. Our caravan is based at home and is heated during the winter months so not really sure what has caused the problem, no mishaps and general use.

Ref the warranty that's probably correct however there are DIY ways of fixing delamination, there are kits available to fix delamination

It's not leaking under the sink is it? By that I mean where the pipes are at floor level

Think it depends on your dealer, our Lunar Clubman SB had delaminated floor repaired , under warranty. TWICE before it was 5 yrs old.
Pester the dealer

From day one you never had a warranty so why worry about it now? A warranty is between the dealer and the manufacturer and not between the consumer and the manufacturer. By not having the caravan serviced in March would a service have made any difference?
The purchase was made under UK legislation and the it is the legislation that applies, not the silly terms of some obscure T&Cs. Nowhere under current legislation does it state that an item has to be serviced for UK legislation to be applied. It is the responsibility of the dealer to sort out the problem.

Our first delamination was, like yours, between the door and the sink/ fridge. I read on here somewhere that this is the most common area for delamination because the fridge " moves" when the van is towed.
The repair will be done from under the caravan to avoid damage to the vinyl flooring, so the caravan will have to be up on a lift, or over a pit.This is why a diy job is probably out of the question unless you want to disturb the flooring... not a good idea.
I would speak to local Caravan mobile service people in your area and see what they say. I dont think it should cost anywhere near £500.
I know it is possible to rent a vehicle lift, by the hour, in some garages, for diy work.

The fridge moving is a new one on me, I always thought delamination was caused by water ingress, learn something new every day. There is no access to the underneath of my caravan without cutting through the waterproof lining which covers the whole of the underneath, I would opt for new vinyl if it was mine and go from the top. Each to their own though, DIY would be my choice and nowhere near £500. Good luck to the OP

There are numerous posts about this on other caravan forums, most recently Practical Caravan under the heading 'Lunar Floor Failure'.

The problem appears to caused by lack of structural support under the plywood floor, which some workshops say requires cutting the floor from underneath to insert extra supports.

You can buy a delam kit from ebay which will repair 1sq m, for about £25 . This kit is only suitable for doing the repair from inside the caravan, not undernerath. You can watch repairs on youtube, if you leave the carpets in the van all the time, then cutting and sticking down the vinyl after the repair will be much cheaper.
So, £25 for the kit and £100 labour for a Mobile person to do it, will sav you £400.

We shall give citizens advice a ring on the legal implications and take it from there. Has anybody had this work done or seen a caravan that has been repaired with a kit, just concernerned what it will look like especially with our van only being 4 years old and still in excellent condition. Thanks everyone for your info so far.
