Was talking to a friend recently who was horrified at the thought of using their cassette toilet for number 2's, so thought I would ask the question and get a general consensus......do you......
A) Not use it at all - use site facilities only.
B) Use for number 1's only
C) Mainly number 1's but emergency number 2's
D) All goes down there regardless - after all its a toilet!
Most of our caravanning is on temporary holiday sites and 5 van sites with no facilities at all, just a toilet empty point and water tap, stay up to 2 weeks at a time so have to use caravan facilities.
For us there is another category - daytime or night time use. I've no problem in emptying the cassette whatever the content the difficulty is in taking it to the CDP when my 2 grandchildren, daughter, my wife are together in the van. With this in mind my grandchildren, daughter and myself usually use on site facilities for all needs in the daytime, anything goes at night. My wife has mobility issues and as such she has dispensation for all uses at all times.
Always use the caravan shower, and the van toilet for No 1's.NEVER number 2's. Its my stomach , the thought of emptying 2's from the cassette, well I'm gagging now just thinking about it.

Caravanning has changed over the past 25 years that people wanted home from home comforts so the manufacturers adapted to that demand. As you pay extra for that privilege then I cannot see why people don't use the facility as it was intended and make life a bit easier.
Site facilities what are they? This is like the shower thread, why trudge to a toilet block when you have everything you need on hand. Doesn't make any sense to me unless you are trying for your 10 000 steps.
I can't see where the horrified comes from. Cassette toilets are designed for all toilet needs. Everything put into a cassette has too be emptied so one would generally do the simplest & easiest thing. Usually a campsite has good toilet facilities so the sensible answer might be to pee mostly in the caravan & crap in the site toilets which is more convenient than emptying the toilet more often.
If you are a responsible dog owner - clearing up the mess they dump on the pavements, you normally use a doggy bag and pick it up with your hands !!! Emptying the cassette is much easier and its all gone very quickly. I do not know what all the fuss is about !!!
