We recently bought a new Antares. The seams are seeping sticky mastic. The dealer here in Spain suggested we use 'top cleaner' to remove but we are struggling to source this product. Does anyone have any tips or product suggestions please? Many thanks
Swift caravans specifically caution against the use of WD40 due to its effect on some plastics, so I would be wary of using it other than on metal.
Try a plastic blade (old credit card, knife etc) dipped in white spirit to cut through the excess down to the paint. Then use a dipped flat side of the card/spatula to lift off the excess
People in the trade use a clear liquid nick-named "orange peel" and it does smell similiar.I have asked ..but they all call it orange peel! It will take any marks or sticky stuff off the side of a caravan but is apparently very expensive.Any ideas anybody?
Meths will remove non drying sealant residue without damage to surface. Suggest the op leaves well alone though. Too much sealant is better than not enough.
Just use plain old turps and a hard wood scraper (wedge)I have used it for years in the caravan trade..
we used to say dont moan about the mastic squeezing out at least it shows there is some underneath plenty have it missing even on brand new vans
I found that white spirt is better than turps as turps to me is a wee bit oily.
If the rails are oozing mastic i would advise getting the rails retightened then clean off the mastic as you will find the screws will tighten down more.
