I been caravanning for years but sadly on my own the last four years.I got an air awning but cant put it up on my own,i seen many motor homes with fiama where they just turn the handle. I never seen them on a caravan but on a motor homes they look the part, just wondering can you fit one on a caravan? are they any good? Just thinking one of them with wind breaker would be ideal, be grateful for your opinions good or bad thanking you

Fiamma do one called Caravanstore, also Thule do one called Omnistor.
Both of these are 'awnings in a bag' and they hang from the awning rail get unzipped and rolled out.
The ones with the wind out handle are normally in an aluminium case and permanently fixed to the side, like you have seen on motorhomes.
Personally I would not fix one of these to the side of my caravan, but I think I'm going to get one in a bag for next year.

than you very much for your opinion really grateful, you said one in a bag does that mean I got to thread it on and off the awning rail or can you leave it on.Inpossible for me to thread it on and off thankin you again
EM
Yes you thread it on and leave it there. There are plastic clips at each end that are in the awning rail that have a screw in them, I take it when screwing it expands the plastic and locks it in the rail.
If you have a look on YouTube there are quite a few videos on both makes, one of them shows the screw bit I am talking about.

I have a Fiamma Caravanstore one of the early ones. I bought it as a sun canopy. You can thread it on to the awning rail and leave it in place. There are stoppers that you insert at either end of the bag to stop movement. I put Vaseline on the stoppers to stop them rusting. If you want one with sides one they are called Caravanstore Zip if you google it you'll see a few images and decide if it is for you. This is alink for the fitting video Caravanstore Zip
Well thank you very much both of you for your input, everything seems ok but could I manage it on my own that's the big question, I want to be hundred percent sure I could manage it on my own thanking you

We have a caravanstore zip and as an able bodied very capable 40 ish person I can unroll and erect the fiamma on my own but it can be pretty difficult to get the balancing act right and extending the side tensioners to be as tight as possible can be tricky at times, all in all, I can do it but much better when the other half is there to help.
Maybe best to visit an accessory shop where they have a display model that you can try for yourself.
Agreed as above. It can be difficult to put up on your own especially a long one. You will need good physical strength to roll it up tightly enough enough to zip up the bag and you’d almost certainly need a hand to hold the tube while you pull out the legs and it can require strength and the knack to extend the “arms” to the “cups” in the bag for tensioning the roof material.
Great piece of kit, but I agree that you should try out first before taking the plonge.
On sites, I’m sure someone would lend a hand for two minutés to get it done. I’d avoid the zip sides which are heavy but the lightweight sides are very good - you’d be better with rafter pole(s) to support the side(s)
A cheaper and easier option for you might be a thread on sun canopy.
Watch Gumtree for second hand items. It can save a fortune.
well thank you all for all the advice, but physical strength or balancing I have not got at 73 is all in the past.So once again thank you very much with all the great advice its going to be no no

I have a Fiamma Zip windout fitted to my Bailey Unicorn Barcelona. They have specially made brackets for the Alutec body. It was fitted by the Bailey dealer so does not effect warranty, it has been there for nearly 5 years and I have just ordered a new model caravan and have again specified a Fiamma windout to be fitted to it. I also have the zip in sides and front, you can put it all up single handed as I do, my wife does the inside stuff.
