You need to post up the max weight of caravan you want & also how much you want to spend. If not much then plenty of 1990s 2 berth caravans on ebay. Many of those are less than a tonne fully laden & you can probably find a reasonable one for less than a grand.
If you want new or modern then choice is more limited as modern caravans are better equipped so heavier. Look at makes like Freedom, Eriba, Caravelair, Sterckeman. All of these makes have some models that weigh less than a tonne all up.
my second van was lightweight Compass ECHO 12cwt! No chance of buying one this weight these days. but it was not a 'solid' as today's models. I tlasted 13 years and regularly went to France and Spain without any problems - apart from the kitchen coming away from the wall on one side every now and again.

To give him the simple answer he may be looking for... There are no good lightweight caravans. There are no bad lightweight caravans. So all he needs to do is choose the caravan he likes within his specified weight limit.
