We used the Obelink when we had the caravan. A good solution as a sun shade, and despite looking flimsy, stood up to some strongish winds. Beware, it pools badly when raining, and the weight of water collapses it.
If you've got the three pole version, you can lift the centre pole and drop the sides to get a reasonable runoff - usually down the guys! We went in the end for the Tencate (sailcloth) version, which is woven in one piece. The cheaper version, in polyester, had a seam which dripped, just where we sat.
I tried all sorts of configurations, non seemed to solve the problem. I had two weeks in the Dordogne which was very wet.
You're probably right, the heavier version is better.
