Kezzahug - big challenges ahead. Lots of forums on permanent living in a touring caravan come down to 2 key points legally. 1. You need to move every 28 days (21 days if using CL sites) 2. You cannot stay permanently in a caravan on one site. However you can get a seasonal pitch, and then not move the caravan, but you have to move yourselves out of it every 21 days for 2 days (or every 28 consecutive days for 2 days - depends on site rules too) then you can go back in again! In my case I am using a caravan term times, but return home for holidays, half term etc, so am not in it longer than 28 days consecutively, though I am using it 8 months of the year (pending buying a pied a terre locally which is the eventuual aim). However I may have to change sites, as the only reason I could keep the caravan on the current site in winter was because it could not be moved (field too soft) without churning up the whole site. Some non-club sites do allow caravans to stay permanently, but you yourself cannot live in it permanently, at least not legally. So the answer really is simply to get a second hand caravan (horsebox will NOT be accepted on Club sites!) then swap between two or three CL sites every 21 days which does mean idenifying which ones are 'open all year' as many close inn winter. Expect to pay £10-15 per night includinng EHU. And be sure you can get on and off pitches in the winter sludge! Security is an issue too, so the site should be reasonably secure and off the beaten track.
