I am new to caravanning and have just bought a lovely cheap fleetwood colchester 1150-2 1993 i think. In the front locker there is a slider switch with a fuse and 2 wires that go into the van. Does anyone have any idea what it might be please?
Hi Russ and welcome to the forum, it's not best practice to have electrical switches in gas lockers in case of possible sparks with gas leaks, perhaps it may be time to see if it's really needed in there at all?
Dave.

Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for a whole weekend.
Are you referring to a switch in the external front locker or the overhead cupboard at the front inside the caravan as sometimes people call those lockers as well?
As others have said, there shouldn't be a switch fitted in gas locker (not as standard anyway) for safety reasons.
If the switch is fitted in the external front gas locker then I would suggest it's been a DIY job undertaken without any knowledge or experience in this field.
OP says, ' the front locker there is a slider switch with a fuse and 2 wires that go into the van '
Going into the van one would assume that it's outside ie front locker.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Yes I agree, but one particular post that Jeff Juke answered some time ago, the OP was asking for advice regarding a front locker so Jeff posted some links for the OP related to the front GRP panel when the reply came back saying they were referring to the front cupboard locker. On occassions, the OP knows what they are reffering to but not everyone else does so it's just a matter of trying to obtain the facts once again in order for people to offer the correct advice.
