Just picked up my new 2018 Baliey Palermo caravan. Very pleased with it apart from the puddle of water on the front table. Long drive home in heavy rain last night. Phoned the dealer, he said to wait for it to rain again and take pictures. Most likely I'll need to take it back in to have a window seal changed.
Dealer is 40 miles away. Not Happy. Shouldn't the manufacturer send somebody to me, quite a significant task to drop off and pickup my van for that, not to mention the fuel cost. Appreciate thoughts. Its our first van,

Very annoying hope you get it sorted i wouldn't wait for more rain put a hose pipe on it with someone inside so they can see where it comes in and start on the roof around the roof lights. However it could be something simple like a window had not been closed properly after a pdi check
good luck

I had already decided to put a hose on myself, thanks for the backup. Picked it up at 1400 yesterday, got home
puddle on table. I feel like insisting they come to me its a such a hassle making two trips for something that should have been checked. I'm just unsure of the norms being a newbee
Thanks
The window latches were all closed over, i checked that this morning

Thanks Ray, i wouldn't mind a leaking compression fitting or a drain line, whatever, but a window not being water tight should be something that cant happen. The process should be robust, or at least QC should pick it up. It reminds me of buying a new build house in this country, everybody in the street has a 4 page snagging list. We are supposed to be confidant about a British manufacturing revival and Brexit, cant even make a watertight caravan in 2018. Bad for the blood pressure.
I've got two young boys, 3 trips planned this year with what we think is the perfect bunk bed layout. The refund route is a heartbreaking thought

Take it back and get a full refund, you have 30 days. The product is not fit for purpose.

It’s probably only a displaced window seal. Open up window & straighten out the rubber. The problem with UK caravans is their design. It’s self evident that huge panoramic front windows are going to cause excess body flex & possible window leaks if seals are not in place.
If you want a caravan with large windows then regular owner maintenance will need to include opening up windows & ensuring seals are clean & in place. It is no different from checking tyre pressures.

Agree that owner maintenance is required during use, but to pick up a new van and have a leak, it shouldn't happen, and should not be down to the owner to sort it out.

Clearly it should not but if the fix is as easy as opening up window & squeezing the rubber then the owner may as well do it & save the trouble of dragging it all the way back to the dealer.

All, thanks for the advice. I'm taking time off work Thursday. Do a test myself where they wash caravans at the storage site. If it’s a seal I can re-sit , I’ll take care of it. Friday at the latest. If its not a simple fix I’ll be asking the dealer to come and deal with it. If they refuse it’s a money back job, I’ll cancel our easter trip and order the coachman highlander at the SECC next Friday
I’ve been onto trading standards and quite clear on my options. I’m no stranger to maintenance but still think an opening of any size should have a fit for purpose sealing system. I hope your guess is correct opensauce
Nora sorry to hear that

I’d give the front sky light a good hose down while someone is inside as in the last month have seen 3 new baileys leaking from the hinge part of the frame where they haven’t put enough sealant there.

Personally I would want to keep the dealer on side. If you rant and rave he will think of you as someone always complaining. Then when something else goes wrong he won't take you seriously. Oh it's only him banging on again.
I would want to be seen as a level headed reasonable man so when I complain, I really have something to complain about.
If you go the self repair route, you may close off the option of having the backup of the dealer if the repair is unsuccessful. They will say you botched it.
Does the dealer know you have a leak. If so, he will want to ensure it is repaired properly.
I'm afraid returning the van for repair is the norm. Your warranty conditions will say that.
