Trade sale doesn't work if the buyer is not a trader.

Sold as seen / Spares or repair, is tricky. Depends on the age/price of the caravan.

If its way below retail value then its going to be fairly certain that it needs work. But if they charge full retail money then you should expect it to be fit for the intended purpose. Age and price will need to be taken into consideration though.

If its 20 years old and £500 then you shouldnt really expect everything to be like new.

It might be pushing your 40-mile radius just a bit, but Select Caravans between Nottingham and Mansfield tend to have a reasonable number of caravans in your age range. They advertise their stock on ebay. We last visited about 2 years ago and their caravans appeared to be in generally better condition, and more reasonably priced than most other larger dealerships.
