In our new caravan the water comes out of the tap like a raging torrent. This is annoying in two ways. Firstly, it splashes everywhere when you are trying to wash your hands as the water comes out with such force and secondly, the aquaroll is emptying twice as quickly as in our old caravan as the water comes out with such force it is using the water at a much greater rate. Is there any way that the water pressure can be reduced so that it comes out of the tap with less force?

We have exactly the same problem compared to our old caravan regarding filling up the water barrels more frequently and yet the caravan we have now is the same model but five years younger. The only reason I can think of is that our older caravan had independent hot and cold water taps whereas this later model has mixer taps in both the kitchen sink and wash basin. However, we had the water pump inlet port changed from the older Carver Crystal MKII to the Truma Ultraflow one which may have a stronger pump delivery.

Depends on which pump make you have. Some do a couple of flow rate options such as whale.

If it was me I would try putting a valve in the discharge line and throttling it back a bit, but I like messing on with stuff.
Then you may have problems with the pressure switch, only assuming... but it's a new van then I would think it will be a no no.

Water pump pressure
switch adjustment
Pressure Switch Adjustment, Truma/Flo-Jet
pump. (Normally Grey upper section with
White lower section/valve housing)
• All of the Truma/Flo-Jet pumps used by Swift
are pre-set at 28psi + / -3psi.
• To further adjust the pressure switch setting,
a cover cap must be first be removed from
the end of the pump to reveal a pressure
adjusting screw, as shown in the photos.
A maximum of 1/4 turn clockwise or
anti-clockwise, from the factory setting, is
advised. Turning the screw clockwise 1/4
turn will increase the pressure switch cut-out
pressure, turning the screw anti-clockwise
will reduce the pressure setting.
• Please note a second screw mounted
below the cover cap is set in position with
threadlock, this should not be disturbed.
Adjusting screw is at bottom of pump, usually pump needs removal to gain access. On page 62/63 of my Challenger sport hand book.

Hi madasaman. I was under the impression that the pressure switch adjustment on the pump itself was to adjust the pressure at which the pump shuts off rather than to regulate the flow of water out of the taps. Have I got this wrong? I want to decrease the flow of water out of the taps. Does the pressure switch adjustment on the pump also affect this?

That’s my understanding too. I wouldn’t think the pressure switch will affect flow rate.

No, you haven't got it wrong as the pressure switch does exactly that. The flow of water is determined by the flow rate of the water pump connected to the caravan. Some of the later water pumps do deliver more quantity of water per minute merely because the older pumps were not powerful enough to supply water to the shower head effectively which is the highest point in the fresh water system.

surely the discharge rate out of the taps is dependant on the pressure in the system, hence if you reduce pressure flow will be reduced as well. Same as if system is pressurized and pump turned off, flow at taps will diminish as pressure falls.Probably wrong, but that is my take on it.

Or don't open the tap fully and use the tap as a restrictor
