so,two weeks ago we got rid of our folding camper and gave up camping after 30 years,this lasted two weeks.So now we are caravan hunting,our car,a C3 picasso can only tug 1200kg,so,does anyone else on here tow with one of these,and what make of van are you using?

1200 kgs. may be the vehicle's maximum towing capability according to the handbook but not necessarilly a safe match. You need to find out what the vehicle kerb weight is first then work out the percentage based on that figure.

I have a 2Ltr HDI Picasso, maximum towing weight 1300kg = 1105kg using the 85% rule. I tow an Elddis Wisp 350 2 birth and tows no problem at all. Depends how big a birth caravan you want. I've been looking for something a little bigger but have struggled with the towing weight, newer vans all seem to be to heavy. I've been looking at a Bailey 460/4 Ranger which mine should be ok with but not sure about yours.

Be careful, the 85% guide is based on the vehicle's kerb weight, not on it's maximum tow weight.

Whats is the gross train weight on the chassis plate?

Some cars like mine have a lower towing limit if the cars loaded.

You can tow more with an empty car, or load the car and tow less. Mines about 300kg less than the max weight/max tow combined.

Which engine and power output do you have? manual/Auto?
