Hiya. We're about to spend Easter in our new (ancient) static up in Northumberland so am anticipating it being a little chilly! It's got a solar panel which inverts to 230v so am thinking of buying a little plug in heater of some kind...any advice on which will use least power/be most effective. No idea of spec of panel but will only be using for lights and phone chargers otherwise. It does have a gas heater in main room but not sure how effective it'll be. Am I right oil filled might be better idea than fan?
Unfortunately more details on the solar panel and the inverter are needed to give a decent answer, but if it was me I’d use the gas heater as they tend to be far more effective than any electric heater.

If a solar panel is the only source of 230volt electricity, I doubt any electric heater will work. Unless of course the solar panel is truly massive. Like covering the entire roof for instance. Also, just when you need it most it won't work at all.
If on the other hand you have a 230volt mains supply as well, you have no problem. Oil-filled rads will give a general all-round warmth, whereas a fan heater will give direct blown heat. It depends what you want really.
Oh right...it seemed really feeble when I briefly turned it on last year but maybe gas one will be ok. Solar panel isn't huge so I guess just for lights n chargers. Thanks guys
Gas heaters take a while to get up to full temperature. If you just switched it on for a few seconds and then off again to test if it was working then it would seem feeble but after about 10 minutes it should be fine.
