Hi all, I am looking for a caravan tracker that can self power if it’s supply is cut, can be monitored by myself for peace of mind as well as a tracking company, and one that doesn’t need checking week to week for low battery. My head is spinning with internet options and deals, so thought I would seek advice from hopefully yourselves on the pros and cons of the tracker companies that you have encountered, plus whether to have a subscription service or not.
Thanks all Nobby
We have an app for our tracker, Pantom. Not sure if it can self power if supply is cut, but I do know it alerts if the power goes off.
From the app we can check battery, where the van is, how far we have traveled each month.
We have a subscription and they call 3 phones if the alarm goes off, house phone and both our mobiles.

better off paying for good insurance, i would not want my caravan back if some low life took my pride and joy. i looked into this years ago and the discount offered was not worth the cost of the tracker.
Thanks for your help, My head is in a spin with tracker companies all offering different things. My concern is if a thief cuts the power to the tracker, by the time I get to the storage yard it could be miles away, and with out it self powering it would be a waste of time knowing where and when it was stolen, thanks again for your reply.
Thanks for reply, think I will look into costs again of insurance, at present it’s not insured and hasn’t been for a couple of years, after I made a claim on caravan club insurance after 16 years claim free the accessor that came out said I had to make 2x separate claims for the damage done to my van even though there was a ball mark on the front window and on top of a frame cover, he said because there was a scuff mark on the side of a frame where the jockey wheel had rubbed in transit this had in turn weakened the cover allowing it to crack when the ball had landed on top of it, so by the time I had paid 2x lots of excess it was cheaper for me to buy a frame cover outright and fit it myself. So I never bothered renewing insurance because premium had gone up because of claim, but due to change in circumstances I now need to put it in storage hence looking at trackers and insurance again. Thanks for your opinion it’s got me thinking again.
So the Phantom will alert when the battery is disconnected, and that is the only way to cut the power to the tracker. The tracker has a back up battery, so you should be able to trace your van, for a period of time, keep the batteries up to date!
Unless the van is completely rewired or the battery never used again, as soon as the battery is reconnected the tracker will send out it’s signal.

Thanks for all your help and advice much appreciated, just an update did not bother with tracker in the end, went for new for old insurance again with caravan club, since then have found a better storage facility which is a level silver approved Cassoa site, the site is protected by 1x electric gate which is opened by useing your mobile phone the 2nd gate is secured by high security padlock, and gate and fencing around compound is 8 feet tall and is permanently watched by cctv so seems very secure and feel confident my van is as safe as it can be, I rang caravan club to inform them of this to see how much my insurance would come down by, to be informed we only give discount on a gold standard Cassoa site and the discount would only be 5% I should have parked it in the lay by down the road and saved me storage fees, honestly the more you try and protect your belongings the insurance company’s do nothing to help. I guess they want you to have your caravan stolen because if there was no caravan thefts then there would be no need for insurance companies 🤔
My old site was Gold rated yet at the rear of the storage was a public right of way. There were enough gaps in the hedge for people to wander in and out from the pathway.
