We have been caravaning for many years and have just bought our third new caravan. I think we have been exceptionally lucky as we didn't have a single warranty issue with either of our first two caravans but we have just come across a problem with our new caravan which is only 2 months old. We contacted our dealer and sent a photo of the problem and they confirmed that it was a warranty issue and started the claim process, however, they have said that it will probably be 6-8 weeks before the work is done. This seems like a long time to me as the issue is only with the awning light, but as we have no experience of warranty work before we don't really know what to expect. What sort of wait times have others experienced for warranty work?
When I booked my caravan in for it's first service had a list of faults / niggles, the main fault was a cracked rear panel, dealer then found damp around the Heki rooflight and roof panel staining. Dealer had to order all the parts and fit them, he had it for 8 weeks.
We waited 8 weeks for Explorer group to decide that what was wrong was an 'issue' and then the dealer had the van for two weeks to do the work. Hairline cracks on front panel and some awful creaking and noise from the fixed bed and the internal wall ( waits for the comments...). Dealer was good, explorer - pathetic. we swapped the van at just two years old.
I would have thought that for a minor thing like an awning light the dealer would just do it and recoup the money when it was finally authorised.
Some of the LED's went on our new Coachman awning light and it was about six weeks before the dealer got the replacement.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Contacted dealer,Robinson’s of Chesterfield, re damp in Bailey in December. They said bring it in in April for warranty work. Surprise, surprise by April it was much worse given time of year. They said it would have to go to factory.I got it back in September!
They did not reply to complaintsr or threats about loss of use.But I had paid deposit by credit card who stumped up £1500.
So overall it took 9 months and a lot of hassle to get the work done.
