Can anyone help please?
I have an inboard water tank in my Elddis Crusader, when the water supply is switched to run from the inboard, it all works perfectly but
when you turn the tap off, the pump continues to run?
If you switch the control panel switch to run from the Aquaroll, the pump
stops fine when the tap is turned off?
The fact that it works fine from the Aquaroll , makes me think all the
taps micro switches are ok. The pump just won’t turn off when switched
to the inboard tank?
Hi Greg
I think you may be right in that the system is pressure fed ?
My Crusader is a 2015 and I think it is pressure fed?
I will check the drain tap is fully closed , if it is any other thoughts , bearing in mind it’s working perfectly when running from the Aquaroll, just the pump won’t turn off when switched to draw water from the inboard?
Thanks
Sounds like there's air in the suction line, maybe a partial blockage. I had a similar problem pumping out of the aqua roll. gave the suction line a shake and it cured it.
Try disconnecting the feed into the pump and blowing through it, if it's convenient.
Hi Johnie Boy
I don’t think it can be a blockage in the line as when switched to inboard, the water comes out fine from all the taps.
It’s when you switch the tap off , the pump continues to run ?
If it's controlled by a pressure switch, then the system is not getting enough pressure build up to activate the switch.
Must be a problem with the delivery line from the onboard tank as you say when taking water from the aqua roll things are fine ...or is there a none return valve passing. (if there is one)
Guess you can check that by looking at the pickup pipe in the aqua roll. Don't know the system just trying to help.
If you have a Whale system with flashing led on the inside of the water inlet (bottom left on mine, but totally different model), you may need to re-calibrate. There are a lot of steps and I don't have the manual to hand, but it is quite easy and is in the caravan manual. I recall that you start by pressing the led itself for so long, run the cold water in the shower, then re-presented the led, but there are set time intervals. I've found that even when the led flashes at the correct rate, once a second I think, occasionally it still needs recalibration.
Your van may of course be totally different, but hopefully this might help.
I am returning home tomorrow and still have the same problem
with the pump not turning off when drawing water from the inboard tank.
We moved to a different site today and the problem is getting worse in that I can’t now fill the inboard tank at all, yet the taps and pump drawing water from the Aquaroll works perfectly.
When there was water in the inboard (before we drained it) it pumped water to the taps all ok, it just wouldn’t turn the pump off and the yellow light stayed on .
Now when I switch to external to fill the inboard , it won’t even fill?
I have tried a new pump in the Aquaroll but does not make any difference?
I am going to try and find the fault when I get home, does anyone have any ideas where to start?
Thanks .
Hi all
Thanks for the feedback.
You weren’t far off the mark Johnnie Boy!
Looking at the Whale schematic, it was clear there is a fine gauze filter in the ‘water in ‘ feed’ through the solenoid unit near the inboard tank. I removed the solenoid and there was indeed some debris blocking the filter. I removed the filter and cleaned it with a toothbrush.
Replaced the unit and now works great, inboard fills really quickly now , as good as new!
As a footnote , when I removed the filter , it had a conical shape with a cupped edge.
Remove it carefully, noticing which way it came out, to replace it after cleaning. This is obviously an important feature to its operation
