Hi guys
Really pleased with our new van but just wondering if the new solar panel is too good judging by the display messages. The display above the door keeps saying 'excess voltage - can cause permanent damage to your battery consult dealer if it persists'. It's showing 13.7volts, the green charging led flashes every second indicating a full charge, the battery itself just feels cold and not overheating everything seems fine other than this message. Can I just ignore this message please?.

Glad you're enjoying your new van Steve. I think I would be seeking the advice of the dealership just to make absolutely sure it's fine, probabably in an email so you have proof if a problem occurs later as a result. There is hopefully a lot more and even stronger sun to come.

13.7V is a perfectly healthy float charge voltage for a 12V lead acid battery. I would verify the voltage at the battery terminals with a digital multimeter, just to be sure.

Agree with both of the above. The size of the panel won't be an issue, but if anything, the charge controller might be worth checking or the on-board display is a bit over sensitive. Contact with the dealer would be best to clarify, but as suggested, check battery voltage on a meter to compare with error message.

Our new Cadiz was showing 13.5 to 13.7 v from the panel no messages on wall panel, but its probably a different type.

Thanks for the advice peeps. Just put a meter across the battery and bang on 13.7v so pretty pleased with that. Away on site with the van today and it's still showing same message when hooked up to the mains, will email dealer when we get home. Thanks again 😀.

My controller will put in an absorption charge of 14.40V a float charge of 13.70V and every 28 days an equalising charge of 14.90V. All perfectly normal and as its by PWM its also good for the battery
