Which insurance company would you recommend? It would help if you have had to call on them and can tell of your experience. The prices we have been quoted vary quite a bit.
We have always had old caravans before and haven't worried about insurance, but we have now upgraded to a 2011 model and feel that it would be a good idea.

CAMC, not the cheapest although you get considerable discounts for fitted security devices. They were prompt and helpful when our previous van was stolen.

We have always had our van insured with the (now) CAMC. A few years ago our last van was involved in a slight scrape with another van on an M-way services. The "scrape" was slight but, caravans being the flimsy things they are, the damage was disproportionately heavy. CAMC sorted it out quickly and seamlessly. Very happy with their service.
About 3 years ago I changed my car insurance through the CAMC - got the best deal from them AND comprehensive cover abroad was inclusive.

I have generally usedCamping and Caravanning Club or the Caravan Club. The real test is when you have to claim so the above advice is more valid than just price.
I have found that generally insurers will gave you a good price to attract new custom then push it up later and I keep switching.
Ever since we bought our first caravan we have always used the Camping and Caravaning Club. Back in 2011 we had a total write off of our caravan (long story but to cut it short, never ever attempt to drive over Shap in high winds unless you want your caravan blown over) and as we had a new for old policy, everything was sorted out for us. We got a personal claims handler who dealt with everything and we got a brand new van. They also replaced a lot of our lost or damaged contents up to the value we had insured without any quibbling. I cannot imagine any way they could have been more helpful or considerate at such a traumatic time and we have continued to use them since. We have not had to make any claims since then but feel confident that if something happens again, they will deal with it just as well.
Interesting...
CAMC have given us by far the dearest quote and we are no longer members of the Caravaning & Camping Club.
There are several other insurers which I have seen mentioned on these pages, but so far no one has mentioned them. I wonder if there is a reason?
My husband is keen to go with a quote from Adrian Flux. It's not the cheapest, but fairly near the bottom. His argument is that since everything else we insure is done through AF it makes good sense.

You don’t have to be a member of the club to use their insurance. Its a commercial transaction.they may give you a small discount for membership .I have used them in the past and have not been a member.
We use Club Care through the C&CC. Even though our caravan is old, we consider it worth insuring because it is in really good condition, and because of third party risks. We also insure our car with Club Care.
we are currently with Frank Pickles - not had any claims with them, but this policy suits my requirements and reasonably priced.
we did have a a total loss claim in 2012 with Lifesure. This was a rocky affair!
We got there in the end, but suffice to say it I had to do all the chasing and make sure their errors were corrected. E.g. getting the ball rolling was a bit painful in making sure i was speaking to the right person, and when they did process the claim they forgot we had new for old and tried to make offers. I had to pick them up on failing to meet some of the T&Cs as set out by them! I would add that the no-loss solicitor was good and we got all our excess back and a new towbar too.
Just read the small print - make sure it covers you for what you are happy to pay for, and bear in mind that if you are using a broker, then you are unlikely to speak to the broker during the claim, and it will be dealt with by another company or multiple departments/companies.
Hi, we use NFU not had to claim for caravan with them but when tow car was written off they were very good. not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
Towergate are very good,discount-for anti theft devices etc and unlimited Eu cover on some policies.
We have new for old, had a couple of small claims which were settled promptly.
Staff are very helpful when you ring them.
