Hi,
new to the forum and I am looking for some help if possible. I have a Sibir three way fridge which after 10 years is becoming temperamental. I only use it on butane but for the last two years it has been harder to light and stay lit. Looking on-line I saw the tip of storing it upside-down for 24 hours and this seemed to help considerably. Used for the first time this year and when I turned it the right way up there seemed to be a noticeable less "liquid sound". Looking online again I saw "freon levels" on camping fridge and saw a youtube clip showing DIY which looks far more complicated and dangerous that the guy would have you believe. Sorry for the long story, does anyone know of someone who could repair my fridge? Google has offered some fridge engineers who all I have tried seem to run away. I fully concede that it may not even be a Freon based fridge, hence why I need an expert.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
Rob

3way fridge is absorbtion type not compressor so does not use refrigerant gas it uses liquid that is heated up. Unless you can diy repair then it’s probably scrap because as you have found repair at commercial rates is probably not viable as repair man cannot really assess cost of work beforehand & fridge could be beyong repair.

You could try cleaning out burner with compressed airline if you can get to one or meths & a small paintbrush if you cannot.

Thanks “Opensauce”, thanks for taking the trouble to help. I can get the gas to light but the fridge does not get cold. I’m thinking it is the amount of fluid in it. I have taken the back off and there is a valve (looks like a car tyre valve) but don’t know what to do next. I am hoping someone may be able to give it a try as the alternatives, unless you go mega-bucks seem to only cool 25 degrees below ambient...... which I agree would cover most English summer days!!!! The Sibir, when working will freeze milk if turned to the max (by mistake). Thanks again for your trouble.

If coolant has leaked out then fridge is scrap unfortunately. If this is a free standing 3way then new replacement is under £200.

Thanks again for continued support. I’m hopeful that someone may have the answer I’m looking for. No signs of any obvious leaks. I don’t want to throw good money after bad and I may have scrap it.
Any recommendations on a free standing gas fridge coolbox (ideally capable of freezing temp, not to make ice cubes but to have the ability to keep things cold and not cool). Sorry for being lazy and not seeking out reviews but happy to get first hand recommendation.
Have a great weekend.

Most popular brand of free standing 3way fridge is Dometic. Google for details but most caravan shops will stock them.

I appreciate your help. I have been doing some digging be found “Dometic RC1200EGP Gas Portable Cooler, 12-230v, Silver” on Amazon. Looks to be able to do the job £155.00, will Shop a little further tomorrow but I am guessing a repair might save me a little (if I could find someone). With a new one I get a warranty and piece of mind.
I really appreciate your help, thanks.
