Hi everyone, we bought our ABI Champion 1999/2000 in winter 2017 and we are now getting it ready to go out but have come across a couple of glitches.
1. The motormover (emove) will not move off the drive. The remote control has a green flashing light. There is no power whatsoever. The frustrating thing with this is that the motormover has worked before.
2. The electric will only work if hooked up.
I am assuming that the 2 are linked? This is a new battery and it has been on charge. My concern is that it has been overcharged if that is possible?
The isolator is normally a `big red key` that (in the vans I have had) has been in the battery box. Press and turn clockwise to power the circuit to the mover, then turn ant-clockwise to isolate once the mover has done its job.
The fridge light and the 12v caravan lights should work even if not connected to the mains, the caravan may well have a car/caravan switch which determines where the power is supplied from, should be set to `caravan`.
Difficult to be more specific without seeing it as systems and control panels and units have changed so much over the years.
I have just pressed and turned the isolation key and still no joy. Still the blinking green light on the remote and no power.
We don’t have a car/caravan switch.
I have just been looking at the cables to the battery and they are very worn and possibly stretched. Part of me thinks that they are not connected properly.
It is possible you have 4g interference and need to change channels on the mover control box. Older models of mover had the option to have a long wire connected to the hand controller direct to the control box, see if you have this and give it a try.
Tbf it could be any number of things causing this. If you do not have tools & the ability to fault find then you need to take it to a caravan workshop & pay to get it fixed.
You need a volt meter to check power is getting through. You need to check connections are good. Go through it section by section. You need to understand what you are doing.
Silly or obvious questions to check, but have you checked the batteries in the mover remote control? And have you engaged the motor mover physically onto the wheels of the caravan and lifted the handbrake?
Are you using remote properly ours needs two presses to turn it on . Not just one . Press twice quite quickly .
Also key next to battery box on . plus make sure clamp is on wheels .
Regarding the motor mover, you say the remote has the green light on, when you press the buttons can you hear the motor mover actually turning?
Its just that when I first got my mover fitted I completely forgot to engage the mover, took me a good ten minutes to realise.
When you engage the mover it pushes rollers next to the tyres which causes the wheel to turn, if its not engaged you'll be able to hear the motors turning but obviously the caravan wont move.
Use a voltmeter on the battery to see that it really is charged as you think.
Locate the mover control box and get someone to stand by it when you switch the red isolation key to ON. A click from the relay in the control box should be heard, indicating that the control box is receiving power.
At the control box, check that any aerial (may just be a length of wire sticking out of the box) is not tucked away and is as upright as possible.
The control box may have a re-set button on it that is used to re-sync it with the remote. You will need the handbook for the mover to see what the actual procedure is to do this.
