Looking for a recommendation of where to go...we've just bought our first caravan and having previously only camped need to do a trial run. Don't have a clue what we're doing, but as with the camping I'm sure we'll pick most of it up as we go along!
We live in the Midlands and ideally would like our first weekend trip to be no more than an hour or so from home. We are two adults, two teenagers and a dog, so somewhere where we can take him for a good ramble would be ideal.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully received :)
Where in the Midlands are you. We spent the weekend in Ashbourne and it's lovely - right on the Tissington trail for walking and cycling and 2 miles from Dovedale. There are a couple of campsites about, all good.
We're in Rugby, not sure where Ashbourne is so I'll have a look later...sounds lovely, and even if it's too far away for our first trip I'm sure we'll be looking for ideas for future trips (fingers crossed!)
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I agree, we previously lived about 20 miles from yourselves and our early excursions were into Derbyshire Peak District. Not too far and we enjoyed the walking. We enjoyed the Peak District so much, we moved to Derbyshire after I retired. That was a mistake, but that's another story.
Just avoid places that involve using the M25 if you are new to towing a caravan and avoid the big commercial sites.
We now avoid caravanning in the UK and store ours in France, where we enjoy all our caravan holidays.
